Create and Track Vendors

Create and Track Vendors

Vendors are created/tracked through your products in Shopify. As you enter your products in Shopify, you will add your vendors name using your chosen tracking method.

1. Vendor Name Tracking

When adding your products in Shopify, simply enter your vendor's name in the vendor name field. This will tell the app who this product belongs to and who to award commission to when the product is sold. If the vendor does not exist in your account yet, the app will automatically create an account for them in your vendors tab.

2. Product Tag Tracking

With product tag tracking you will enter your vendors name in the product tag section in Shopify. First, enter your product tag prefix (i.e. vendor_), followed by the vendors name. For example, if your vendor's name is John Doe then the tag should be "vendor_John Doe." Doing this will automatically connect that product to your vendor within our app. Be advised that product tags are case sensitive. If the vendor does not exist in your account yet, the app will automatically create this account for you in your vendors tab.

3. Verify Vendors

You should now see the vendor in your vendor list. If not please reach out to us to help diagnose the issue. In your message, please include the vendor in question and a product that includes your chosen tracking information.

**If you need custom tracking in a different way, please reach out and we will help get that set up.

4. Which tracking type should I use?
Both vendor name and product tag tracking will work the same way within the app, but there are a few factors to keep in mind when making your selection. Vendor name tracking is the most basic tracking method. It does not require a prefix to be entered before the vendors name. However, you may want to use product tag tracking if:
  1. You currently use the "vendor" field to display the brand name of the product
  2. You have both consignment and "owned" products in your store
    1. Product tag tracking makes it easier to differentiate between the two types of products.
  3. Your website theme shows "vendor" information
